Farmers Market to Open!!
July 7, 2009: The Shinnston Farmers Market will open on July 8, 2009 at 7 AM at the Trailhead of the West Fork River Rail-Trail on US Rt 19. This will be the second year and I have been told we will have great participation from the local farmers again this year. All items being sold - produce, baked goods, herbs etc - are West Virginia grown (or made). I suggest you come early because by 11 AM they are usually sold out. Last year the farmers were pulling in and could not even get unloaded before people were asking what they had to sell. Gillum House sold breads and muffins last year and is seriously considering doing so again this year. I have just convinced myself to bake some Swedish Rye for the Farmers Market 2009 Opening tomorrow. This is a bread I use in our packed lunches for the Bike N Winery or the Covered Bridges packages in my ham & cheese or roast beef & cheese sandwiches. The herb bread is used for turkey or chicken with my special topping. I also do white bread and whole wheat and dinners always have my French Bread served straight from the oven. Guests this weekend enjoyed English muffin bread with honey butter (I mixed it up that morning) for breakfast. We hope to see you at the Farmer's Market. Every Wednesday from 7 AM until sold out at the Trailhead until the season is over.
