July 31, 2009: July 1, 2009 the date of the annual Independence Concert the only song that played was; The Day That the Rains Came Down! The rain date was July 2 - repeat performance of July 1. Canceled concert!The Shinnston Community Band is going into brush-up rehearsal mode every Tuesday in August and on Saturday, August 22, 2009 will perform at the big pavilion at City Park at 6:00 P.M. I may be considered a bit prejudiced since I do play bari sax in the Band, but we re totally awesome! So bring your lawn chairs and enjoy.The Fireworks will NOT happen the night of the Concert (they cannot be set off safely when there is a pool party). However, come back 1 (one) week later on Saturday August 29, 2009 and experience the best fireworks in the State of West Virginia as the Shinnston Area Development Association celebrates being part of the Wonderful State of West Virginia in the greatest Country in the World, the United States of America.
