Today is the annual Independence Concert at Shinnston City Park. People will start coming to the Park by 4 in the afternoon to get a good parking spot and stake out a good section of green for their chairs or blankets. We had over 3000 people there last year.About 7 pm a young member of the Community Band will play guitar and sing for about 15 minutes. She will be followed by a performance by the Dennis McClung Blues Band. About 8 pm or so, the Shinnston Community Band will perform their annual Independence Concert. There will be about 5 minutes after the concert for the band members to get their instruments put way and then the fireworks will begin. The Shinnston Area Development Association annually hires a certified fireworks person to purchase and set off a SOLID 45 minutes of fireworks. Come out to the Park. It is free. (The concession stand at the pool will be open if you want to buy supper or snacks.)We are sorry we are booked for July 4-5 and cannot accommodate you for the holiday.
