Miss Frontier Days Pageant - some rules

August 28. 2009: There have been a lot of questions about the Miss Frontier Days Pageant so I am going to post some of the rules. Full rules and entry forms are available at City Hall 40 Main Street, Shinnston. The deadline for entry is September 18, 2009. There is also a Junior Miss Frontier Days and a Little Miss Frontier Days. Some rules for Miss Frontier Days are:

The Frontier Day’s Queen Pageant will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009.

The following is some of the pageant rules that you agree to abide by:

  1.   A Contestant must be sixteen (16) years of age and may not have reached her 22nd birthday by January 1, 2010.
  2. The Queen must remain single throughout her reign, which continues until the crowning of a new queen the following year.  If for any reason “Miss Frontier Days” should marry during her reign, she forfeits her title and the 1st Runner-Up will succeed.
  3. Contestants must be a resident of West Virginia for at least six (6) months prior to the pageant and a resident of the United States.
  4. Miss Frontier Days must remain a West Virginia resident during her reign.
  5. Contestants must be interviewed by the judges individually on the day designated by the pageant committee.
  6. Contestants will also compete in: Street Wear, Evening Gown and On-Stage Question.   Contestants will be judged on poise, natural beauty, character and the ability to be an ambassador for the Frontier Days Fair.
  7. Part of the responsibly of the Fair Queen is to have an active part in fair week activities and the crowning of her successor the following year.
  8. The Queen will be required to participate in the State Competition at the West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Convention held in January, 2010 in Charleston, WV. (Weekend expenses, including one room for lodging paid for by pageant)
  9. Miss Frontier Days may not enter other pageants that would conflict with her competing at the State Fair Competition.  The Queen must consult the executive director before entering any other pageant.      
  10. You may only be selected once as “Miss Frontier Days”.
  11. Must complete application and pay non-refundable entry fee of $50.00.

Checks to be made out to “Frontier Days” and received no later than September 18, 2009.
