Thanksgiving - Food, Fun, and History

The Gillum House Bed & Breakfast will save you shopping, lugging, cooking, serving, cleaning up, and dealing with leftovers. Just enjoy the day! With the 18th century Thanksgiving (we serve wearing period clothing) dinner you can learn a bit about the Revolutionary War period - IF you wish. Relax with your TV for the big games or walk the rail-trail or check out covered bridges after dinner. Most restaurants in the area will be closed so we offer another opportunity to do something different. Guests are invited to help make homemade noodles and rolls for supper Thanksgiving night if they wish - not required but you can.Prickett's Fort will hold their annual Christmas Market November 28-30. This is a marvelous event to the north of us in Fairmont. See a recreated (in detail) 1774 stockaded civilian fort for history and visit the crafters (and shop for unique gifts) at the Market. To the south of us, Lambert's Winery is holding an Open House November 28th and 29th from 10am to 9pm with wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres, vendors, custom-made gift baskets, photographer, and more. The Thanksgiving Package must be booked by November 15th. Smell that turkey? Have you ever had homemade cranberry sauce? Come home to Granny's house and make a Family Memory.
