Shinnton - small town spirit

Our Lincoln High School boys basketball lost the regional play-off by 2 points. However, our girls basketball team went to State as #3 seed. They won in the quarter-finals, beat Lincoln's nemesis team Winfield in the semi-finals, and lined up against the #1 seed team in West Virginia - Summers County this afternoon. Summers County has the #1 girl basketball player in the State on their team. Even though they were down by 30 points, our girls played as if they would win the game if they made that next basket. Our star player was interviewed after the game by the Statewide radio announcers. During the next game half-time, the announcers remarked that the interview with Kayla was one of the best interviews they had ever had. She carried herself so well and did not sound like a player who had just lost such a big game. We are proud of our girls!Come on down and see this little City that has produced good sports teams and a high school Cheerleading Squad that has won the State Cheerleading Championship the last 3 years in a row.
